A Fresh Start
Christina Anstead is a whiz at finding great houses. The star of Christina on the Coast and Flip or Flop knew exactly what she and her husband, Ant, wanted when they were looking for a place in Newport Beach, CA, last year. “Single level, preferably farmhouse style, and I’ve always loved a black-and-white home,” she says. And that’s exactly what they got. It didn’t need a ton of work — just enough for them to put their stamp on the place, blending their different styles. “I’m bohemian, he’s more industrial,” says Christina. The result: a winning marriage of black and white and natural wood tones. Take a look!
The House
“Believe it or not, Ant and I had a photo of a home that looked just like this one on our vision board before we found this house,” says Christina. The couple hung swings from Serena & Lily on the front patio, one of the kids’ favorite spots.
Living Room
“I had this sectional made for my last house, so I was excited when it fit well in this space,” says Christina. She worked with local designer Raili Clasen to drop in unique pieces like the coffee table from HD Buttercup and the low-slung armchairs. All the blond wood balances out the charcoal gray fabric.

Kitchen
With a crisp palette and a large marble-top island already in place, it felt made for Christina and her family. She replaced most of the open shelves with upper cabinets. “I have more kids’ cups I’d rather hide away than cute knickknacks to display,” she says. The square tile backsplash is by Clé and the oak counter stools are from Industry West.

Master Bedroom
Ant made the steel bed and the multi-bulb light fixture. “We saw a similar light at a store, I commented that it was cool, and the next thing I knew, Ant was building it,” says Christina. She likes how the Living Spaces sofa and the poufs from World Market give the room a layered look. The kids appreciate them too: “On weekend mornings, they sit here and watch cartoons.”

Main Bathroom
Decked out with a double vanity, brass hardware and graphic cement floor tile by Clé — along with a spacious shower and a walk-in closet — this room was move-in ready in both form and function. Christina and Ant haven’t changed a thing.

Taylor’s Bedroom
Designed to grow with her, the canopy bed has twinkle lights wrapped around the frame and a furry pink bench at the foot (both are from RH Teen). A macramé hanging chair, specially requested by Taylor, is from Ivory & Deene. Her rug is an Ikea find, and the pendant is from RH.
Brayden’s Bedroom
Christina did it up in shades of blue, Brayden’s favorite color, with bursts of red. He’s into cars and dogs, so there’s a throw pillow with a retro car, a dog-print sheet set and “Big Doggie” holding court in the corner. The bed, nightstand and rug are from RH Baby & Child and the red lamp is by Robert Abbey.

The Yard
In the backyard with Taylor, 9, and Brayden, 4. “We play soccer a lot — it’s Ant versus everyone else and he still wins!” says Christina. This is an extra-special part of the home: The couple got married here in December 2018.
