Jasmine transformed her Rock the Block house to reflect her unique personal style of California casual.

Jasmine's Smart Renovation

Jasmine Roth of Help! I Wrecked My House was ready to take home the entire Rock the Block competition. “My plan is to make sure that every square inch of this house appeals to Drew and his team of appraisers,” Jasmine said. Let's see how she did.

The Exterior: Before

A brand-new home like this one doesn’t require much updating. That being said, Jasmine still wanted to ensure her house would stand out on the block.

The Exterior: After

Jasmine made several updates to her home’s exterior: paint job, new garage door, walkway. Not to mention, she added architectural stone around the skirt of the front of the house for an elevated look. “I see every bit of this house as an opportunity. I want to add value to every square inch of not just the house but of the property itself,” Jasmine said.

The Foyer: After

In her entryway, Jasmine used recycled wood on the ceiling to create a similar look and feel to the great room. She also brought in a custom-built, cinnamon-colored barn door to close off the laundry room.

The Garage Niche: After

While some of the other designers used this extra square footage in the garage to create offices or extend their main baths, Jasmine chose to transform it into an at-home gym complete with a climbing wall.

The Den: After

“Whenever I see a den, I always think if there’s a way to make it into a bedroom and even better, if I can make it into an en suite,” Jasmine said. Like Mina, Jasmine decided to turn her den into a fourth bedroom. However, she went a step further and added a full bath. “Adding bedrooms and bathrooms is the best way to add value to an appraisal.”

The Bedrooms: After

For the guest bedrooms, Jasmine took a family-oriented approach to designing them. The one bedroom she turned into a nursery and the other (pictured here) she turned into a child’s room. “My plan from the beginning has been to create a really functional, family home,” Jasmine said.

It’s ironic that Jasmine would turn one of the bedrooms into a nursery, considering she just found out she and her husband Brett are expecting. “[We're] so excited (also nervous, ecstatic, terrified, overjoyed, and all the feelings) that we are expecting our first baby on 4.27.20," Jasmine wrote on Instagram. We can't wait to see how she designs Baby Roth's nursery.

Jasmine's Great Room and Outdoor Space

Jasmine pulled out all of the stops to secure her place as the winner of Week 3’s great room and outdoor space challenge. “I’m going all in this week with my boldest, riskiest move yet: installing a $30,000 pool,” Jasmine said. Not only that, but Jasmine also jazzed up the great room ceiling, installed a fireplace and added storage.

The Great Room: Before

What’s the point in putting in a $30,000 pool without an easy way to access it? For Jasmine, the great room's rear wall absolutely had to go. In its place, she had gorgeous, glass stacking doors installed. “I want buyers to walk in here and feel like ‘wow,’” Jasmine said.

The Great Room: After

Jasmine’s coastal, California aesthetic continued to shine through in her great room design. Besides installing glass stacking doors, Jasmine brought value to her great room with an electirc fireplace and custom ceiling complete with a modern chandelier.

Flea Market Finds

Week 3’s challenge included a $1,000 shopping spree at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena, California. Jasmine and Scott took home lots of goodies, including this set of lockers. After surrounding the lockers in an oak casing, Jasmine placed them in her great room for a unique design element that doubles as storage.

The Outdoor Space

To really make the patio feel like an extension of the great room, Jasmine continued the reclaimed wood ceiling outside. Using three old doors purchased at the flea market plus the countertop from the original kitchen island, Jasmine’s team created a small outdoor bar. The lights hanging over the bar are another flea market find — and are actually made from airplanes.

The Pool

With a big and flat backyard, Jasmine knew there was one way she could definitely blow the appraisal out of the water: a swimming pool. “This is the biggest chunk of my budget I’ve spent on any one item,” said Jasmine. $30,000 later, Jasmine’s backyard became a private oasis and a standout among the competition.

Jasmine's Kitchen

"In all stages of your life, the kitchen is important," Jasmine said. With that mantra in mind, the seasoned builder and home designer wanted to elevate this cooking space to ensure every inch appealed to a buyer. She created tons of new storage and added a motion sensor faucet, making the kitchen as functional as possible and chose an earth-tone color scheme to match her signature California-casual style.

The Kitchen: Before

Jasmine's strategy? Reuse or repurpose as many materials as possible (like cabinets and countertops), so she could focus her spending on big-ticket items instead.

The Kitchen: After

An innovative designer, Jasmine stepped outside the box and chose a beautiful dolomite stone countertop for her kitchen island. Since the stone is porous, she sealed it with a UV-cured acrylic for durability. She also extended the island by a couple of feet, adding a live edge piece of wood that waterfalls over one end. To save money, she kept the original kitchen countertops and cooktop, and repurposed then painted, the original cabinetry.

Custom and Casual

For a truly custom look, Jasmine replaced some of the upper cabinets with open shelving, installed a trendy square-tile backsplash and wrapped the range hood in wood, painting it to match the rest of the space.

Cabinet Fever

Jasmine lined one wall in the kitchen with floor-to-ceiling, glass-front cabinets, adding more storage and creating a graphic, visual focal point in the room. In the center, she installed a handy wine fridge topped with an upcycled barn wood counter, which complements the antique elm cabinet backing.

The Dining Area

A cool, exposed-bulb light fixture, leather dining chairs and vertical wall planters combine to create a bright, relaxed dining space in Jasmine's California casual style home.

Jasmine's Main Suite

"My design style is California casual," Jasmine said. "It is coastal, beachy and cool. I pride myself on coming up with innovative solutions that you wouldn't find in most houses. That is what makes a signature Jasmine Roth home."

The Original Main Bedroom

Jasmine thought this original main bedroom was full of great design opportunities.

The New Main Bedroom

With a fresh coat of paint, wood flooring and fun wallpaper, Jasmine transformed this main bedroom into a vibrant space. Jasmine added a king-size bed, new lighting, layered throw rugs, pull curtains and touches of color throughout.

The Original Main Bathroom

The original main bathroom contained an all-white vanity and neutral walls.

The New Main Bathroom

Jasmine wanted this wall to make a statement. She added bathroom vanity lighting above the upscale mirrors, gray cabinet bottoms and plenty of room for the family to all share the space, if needed, in her beach-inspired bathroom.

Coastal Style

Two of the key features in Jasmine's main bathroom were the clawfoot tub and the walk-in shower. This tub and shower really up the value of the home. Jasmine also made sure to incorporate her coastal style by using a mint green floor tile.

The Walk-In Closet

To make this area more functional, Jasmine included lots of space for storage. She even opened up the wall and added a door to connect the closet to the laundry room.

The Appraisal

Once the house was complete, Drew brought in a team of appraisers made up of real estate experts familiar with the area. The most value-increasing features of Jasmine’s home, according to the appraisers, are the pool, additional powder bath and the bedroom with an en suite bathroom. As for what they didn’t like, the appraisers noted a lack of built-ins and a basic main closet.

And the Winner Is...

After her house appraised at more than $1 million, Jasmine was officially announced the winner of Rock the Block. Surrounded by her fellow competitors and their crews, Jasmine was overjoyed when Drew unveiled a sign with the street's new name: Jasmine Lane.
