Style and Function
Homeowners Shelly and Zahid bought their spacious home more than a decade ago, meaning it’s in desperate need of some upgrades. Although they’ve always loved the home, they don’t love sharing a master bedroom and bath space with their young son. See how Hilary transforms this home into a gorgeous space well-suited for the family.
Living Room, Before
This spacious living room had plenty of potential, but the dated black leather couch and shag rug weren't doing it any favors.
Living Room, After
After Hilary stepped on the scene, she magically made the living room feel even larger, by re-positioning the couch so it no longer closed off half the room. Plus, by swapping in a lovely blend of gray and turqoise colors, the room looks worlds more appealing.
Colorful Pillows
While most of the living room is filled with a contemporary gray color palette, Hilary weaves in pops of turquosie with various accessories, like these printed throw pillows.
Living Room, Before
Before the makeover, the other half of the living room featured two lounge seats that didn't quite fit with the rest of the space.
Living Room, After
Now, the secondary living space includes two midcentury modern armchairs that add both style and function to the room.
Living Room, After
Where there was once a wall separating the living and dining rooms, Hilary added a unique fireplace feature, creating a totally open floor-plan perfectly suited for a family home.
Stylish Fireplace
This chic gas fireplace offers a cozy place for the family to gather, as well as a pop of color with the turquoise stones.
Dining Room, After
On the other side of the unique fireplace, there's now a midcentury modern dining area, featuring a large natural wood table, soft blue chairs and funky light fixture. Hilary also opted for a turquoise area rug, to carry through the featured accent color.
Dining Room, Before
While the homeowners were clearly already fans of turqusie accents, the dark cabinetry and outdated chandelier made this dining space feel uninviting.
Dining Room, After
After removing the massive dark wood built-ins and instead highlighting the wall of windows on the other side of the room, both the dining table and kitchen island feel fit for family mealtime.
Kitchen, After
The spacious white marble countertop in the kitchen gives ample space for both preparing food and dining. Plus the aqua bar chairs add yet another pop of blue to the room.
Office, Before
This petite room used to serve as a bedroom for the homeowners' young son.
Office, After
Since the homeowners' son had outgrown this bedroom space, Hilary opted to transform the room into a chic office instead.
Child's Bedroom, Before
This chaotic playroom was begging to be transformed into a functional living space.
Child's Bedroom, After
Hilary saw this once dysfunctional playroom as the perfect place to create a lovely bedroom for the homeowners' son. The blue walls are playful, but subtle enough to grow with him.
Work of Art
Hilary poses in front of the beautiful painting she chose for this child's bedroom. It features lovely orange and yellow tones that perfectly complement the blue walls.
Creative Inspiration
Hilary filled this bedroom with an array of accessories that encourage creativity, like this marker and paint set, displayed in geometric wooden containers.
Child's Bedroom, After
On the other side of the room, Hilary added a bed that's both chic and suited for a growing kid. The bedspread features a neutral gray and white pattern, and is topped with an orange throw blanket, inspired by the colors in the main painting.
Master Bedroom, Before
While the master bedroom was perfectly functional, the parents certainly deserved an upgrade to their snooze space, as well!
Master Bedroom, After
Hilary gave this master bedroom a facelift, with the help of the same gorgeous turquoise hues that are featured in the rest of the redesigned home.
Bathroom, Before
This small, outdated bathroom was in serious need of a complete transformation.
Bathroom, After
Now, the bathroom features chic wood cabinetry, modern faucets and plenty of counterspace for morning pampering.
Bathroom, After
Hilary also swapped the old, dingy bathtub for a sleek glass shower. Plus what spa-inspired bathroom would be complete without some plush robes?
Happy Homeowners
After a total transformation of their home, these homeowners have one very challenging decision to make.
