Adorable meet-cutes aside, these creatives were meant to find each other. From couples who rekindled years after first meeting (Nate and Jeremiah), to those love-at-first-sight lucky few (Erin and Ben), these HGTV stars were aligned from the start. Ahead: How each of our favorite power-couple hosts kicked it all off.

Bryan and Sarah Baeumler

According to TRNTO, Bryan and Sarah met in high school but didn’t start dating until 10 years later. They stayed connected throughout university and their post-graduate programs. Fast-forward to 2001: Bryan and Sarah were copied on the same email by a friend, which spurred them to start talking again. They decided to meet and grab coffee and, as the saying goes, the rest was history. According to Sarah, Bryan “pulled out all the stops” for their romantic first date. He took Sarah to see The Lion King theater production and then to a sushi restaurant. Now, the couple has four kids and works their magic on HGTV's Renovation Island.

Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent

Nate and Jeremiah, hosts of The Nate and Jeremiah Home Project, navigated the design world adjacently for three years before getting together. They were acquainted socially, had each other's phone numbers and ran in similar circles, until fate — in the form of their mutual friend, fashion-designer and media-mogul Rachel Zoe — threw them together in 2011. “Rachel [used to] say to us, ‘You guys would be absolutely in love,’” Jeremiah told HGTV. When they saw each other single for the first time at Rachel's birthday party, Nate approached Jeremiah and invited him to go antique shopping around New York City. “Our date was magic. I'd never felt so safe and so exactly where I was meant to be,” said Jeremiah. “We stayed up until four in the morning looking through design and travel books, sharing what we found beautiful, what we found special.” Add Nate, “It was the date that never ended.”

Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson

When you know, you know. The first time Mike saw Egypt — his current co-host on Married to Real Estate — while DJ-ing at a nightclub in New York City, he knew he was going to marry her. “The light was literally only on her. From that moment on, I knew she was my wife,” Mike recalled. Egypt wasn't convinced Mike was being genuine, plus she was focusing on work, so the two parted ways. Six months later, they met again by chance at the Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City. The two chatted, but Mike decided not to ask Egypt out because she was with a friend. Finally, a few months after the parade, fate took charge: “I’m flipping a house in Newark, New Jersey," Egypt said. "I call my mentor because I need a contractor to help me with the roof. She calls someone for me, and then Mike and his team pull up. I come outside and I’m annoyed. I'm like, 'What are you doing here? I need a contractor, and they sent me a DJ.' He’s like, 'No, I'm a contractor, too.'" Mike had no idea the job was for Egypt. “[Mike always] says, 'I saw you, and I knew you were my wife,'" Egypt said. "The thing I thought was a line he's been saying for the last 18 years."

Erin and Ben Napier

Just like every episode of Home Town, Ben and Erin's love story was a whirlwind adventure. They met on their college campus in 2004. Erin was working on a story about interesting people for the yearbook. Of course, Ben — the most interesting guy on campus — would be quoted. “He made anyone he spoke to feel like they were special; he sat with the person eating alone. And because of that, I loved him before I even knew him,” Erin wrote on Instagram. After their first sweet interaction (bear hugs were involved, according to Erin), the duo spent some time getting to know each other. "Six days later we decided we would get married,” Erin wrote. Each year, Erin and Ben celebrate the day they met with what they call "Love Week." Chelsea and Cole DeBoer

For Chelsea and Cole, Teen Mom-2-stars-turned-HGTV-hosts, there’s no spot more nostalgic than the one next to the gas pump. The Down Home Fab designers were filling their cars with gas at the same time in their home town of Des Moines, Iowa, and locked eyes. “We just kept staring back and forth the whole time,” Cole tells HGTV. “I remember being like, ‘Wow, she’s really cute.’” They didn’t talk but continued to sneak glances at one another as they happened to drive side-by-side all the way home. “For the days following, I would talk about ‘the gas station guy,’” Chelsea remembers. A few days later, Cole found Chelsea on Facebook and messaged her. “I was the gas station guy,” says Cole. “And now we have four children, and we’re doing this.”

Brian and Mika Kleinschmidt

Brian and Mika met in chorus class in high school. "It was love at first sight for me, but it took a little bit longer to convince her," Brian told The List. "I was gaga over her, I could not even talk around her in high school." Mika, who revealed Brian was a jokester in high school, admitted that though she didn't take his romantic advances very seriously, the two were definitely friends. Years later, they reconnected and finally got married in 2015. Now they rule the Florida real estate scene on 100 Day Dream Home.

Dave and Jenny Marrs

Long distance was no match for Dave and Jenny. The Fixer to Fabulous hosts met in 2002 after college while working for Newell Brands' Rubbermaid. Dave’s job required him to relocate frequently, but the couple dated long distance until Dave decided to quit the corporate world and get back into building houses — his one, true love (besides Jenny, of course). Jenny took a leap of faith and followed Dave to Arkansas, a state neither of them had ever lived in. After dating for about a year, the couple got engaged in Paris. “As we stood there, looking up at the glow of the [Eiffel Tower] against the clear, dark sky, Dave turned to me and said, ‘Marry me,’ in a voice mocking a popular commercial at the time. I laughed and said, ‘But of course!’ to which he replied, ‘No, I’m serious,’" Jenny told HGTV. “In what can only be described as an out-of-body experience, I watched as he fell to one knee and held up a small box containing my engagement ring. I screamed and grabbed him by the neck, partially choking him while crying. Champagne was soon to follow.” Now they're raising five kids, running a farm and starring in their own television show. Sheesh.

Keith Bynum and Evan Thomas

Renovation experts Keith and Evan met on Match.com — not in Detroit where their show is based — but in beautiful Colorado. They lived there together for years before picking up and moving to Detroit. Neither of them had ever lived there, but they immediately felt the camaraderie and warmth of the city.
